In workshops I lead children and adults as they create a character from felt, paper, or cardboard. Watching the puppet characters learn to walk, jump and hearing them talk is a lot of fun.
Toilet paper roll or craft stick puppets are easy to finish in 20 minutes. Making a felt character or a sock puppet takes around an hour. Puppet workshops can be scheduled with a performance, by themselves or as part of a several week class.
This past year I’ve loved making shadow puppets with children in after school classes. Just a piece of manila folder, markers and a brass fastener bring a lot of action. Here’s a clip of a very acrobatic cat:
Please email me at [email protected] if you’d like to set up a workshop. For add-on craft workshops scheduled with performances, prices are usually between $25 and $40.
